orientation 01 has officially ended! im feeling kinda nostalgic thinking back- it was really a fun experience and i have to say that IPO and orientation 01 were the best orientations that i have gone through- (:
wednesday 3rd jan 'o7first day of school! we were supposed to report to classrooms by 7.40, but we didn't know where the classroom was so we were a little late. i saw sj seniors! which is expected la- looking at all the new j1 students, im kinda glad that we ip students had orientation alone before them or else we'd be as lost and lonely as them!
we met the new principal, mr chan- he's really jolly and
like a huge cuddly teddy bear nice :D and the new vice principal is mr fong yeow wah- the dhs BSP teacher! O.O
the one that scolded us in the auditorium because we didn't want to join BSP- that's him.
anyway we joined the j1s for their orientation! my og from my class- shuyi, amanda, me, christopher and jing rong were put in I-ROBOT, a sub group of ICARUS. this year's orientation theme is pirates and patriots. icarus is part of patriots! :D we are supposed to compete with each other to become captain V's crew and stuff- we were pretty unenthu at first, seeing that is the first day of school!
we had games and got to know each other. nurun, christopher and leonard were our OGLs. the games were pretty fun- but the first day didn't really leave much of an impression on me! oh ya! we had bandanas and my group is purple! the colour of royalty (:
we learned the vj anthem, but i still don't know the words -.- we also learned vj's most popular cheers and the mass dance! we learned two mass dances today and it was fun. the movements are rather hard but its really fun dancing heh :D
we ended off with debrief and were released at 5.30 pm. daddy came to pick me and mummy up before going for dinner.
thursday- 4th jan 'o7day 2 of orientation! today was more fun than the first day :D we had our first whole school combined assembly followed by a talk on why we should join ccas etc. then we changed into our orientation tees and we started day 2 of orientation- there was a lot of cheering the whole three days! we had games again before going for cca walkabout. we played super lame games while waiting for our turn at the stations :D at the cca walkabout, there were so many ccas that we couldn't find alot of the booths LOL-
i auditioned for choir, and i screwed up so i didn't get in- but im not that disappointed because there are so many ccas! im currently trying for guitar ensemble now- i want to take taekwando as a second cca if i have the time! :D
we had wet games after cca walkabout- the wet games were really outrageous. but i only played two, because there weren't enough time to play all. but the first game was called foam party-
its the most outrageous game i ever played- the girls have to sit in one line, and the guys have to, get this,
shampoo the girls' hair! we were all like O.O- guys and girls alike. the team to fill the bucket with the most lather(foam) wins.
it was super retarded can- the guy shampooing me, kenneth, went- oh you like pinocchio? *sweeps my hair up into a spike* pinocchio, pinocchio! so retarded! and the guys don't know how to wash our hair- the foam went into our ears, into our eyes and stuff- but it was worth it, in the end my team won! haha :DDDD
we girls immediately ran for the toilet to shower off the shampoo- we kept complaining and in the end we drenched all the guys in water so we had our revenge :D but it was kinda nice- because my hair felt really clean and smelled nice for the rest of the day HAHA-
the second game was just throwing water bombs- after that we changed into dry clothes and we learned another two mass dances. there was this couple dance and my partner was super tall- i didn't even reach his shoulders! so i changed with amanda, but my new partner is only a few cm shorter than the original one, so it was really akward-
when it came to the part where the girls have to twirl the guys under their arm to change places, we both went O.O and everyone around us started laughing- needless to say, we had alot of difficulty, so the OGLs took pity on us and got me a shorter partner -.-
after mass dance we had debrief before going home! we were supposed to go for OG dinner but everyone had too many things and were really tired, so we postponed it to the next day.
friday- 5th jan 'o7last day of orientation! :/ we had assembly as usual and had a briefing by ms elaine toh, my civics tutor, about the bridging curriculum week while the j1s had briefing about their PW. we split up into our OGs after that again for day 3 of orientation!
i think we had station games again before going for lunch. my group was super fun, because we were playing lame games like- how many maa maa jumped over the wall, or the mrt game. it was super funny because this girl in our group, chaza was super blur and couldn't catch the games at all- so we had a ball laughing at her :D
during lunch, we sat together and played some more and there was this number game i couldn't catch- christopher and jing rong were super frustrated at me because i couldn't catch it even when it was so obvious LOL-
we had another cca briefing after that and we played games again i think- the last mass dance we learned was the hardest and we spent half the time trying to keep up lol. we had another cheering session and we played this game where we couldn't say anything. we were put randomly all over the place and we were supposed to gather together as a group under another group's banner- e.g. icarus has to gather at another group's banner-
we were waving our bandanas like mad and once everyone was there, we started making random movements as a group so we can win! i think the mcs were pretty impressed with our groups :D then we did our group cheers and the OGLs were super proud of us because they weren't allowed to help us at all and we did everything on our own- gather the group together, decide what to do, decide what cheer to do and who to lead the cheer. i guess it really made it worthwhile for them to spend this three days of orientation with us :D
then we had this slideshow of pictures which was really sad because that day was the last day of orientation and they played our squad song- at the beginning! it was the same song playing in the powerpoint mdm xinying and the rest made for us that made us cry so much during POP :/
some people cried while watching the powerpoint of orientation 01!
in the end the scores were revealed- icarus came in THIRD! :D from seventh place, we moved up to third place in just half a day! the group went crazy when the results were announced and in the end, the patriots won! :DDD im so proud of the patriots and icarus :D
after that we danced all the mass dances that we learned in the three days all at one shot! it was really tiring but fun! the fun came out of trying to keep up with the steps (: they officially declared orientation 01 closed and we had debrief.
my group was supposed to go out for OG dinner, but alot of them couldn't make it- so in the end i didn't go too and there were only 3 people left going (whoops!)
saturday-6th jan '07collected my edusave scholarship award! i got $300 :DD
next monday is really the last day of orientation- we have sea regatta! we're going to spend half a day at the beach, before going for og lunch and dinner and finally having mass dance at suntec (: i can't wait!
